Oleksandr Bohomazov

Oleksandr Konstyantynovych Bohomazov (1880-1930) mastered several styles, most notably Cubo-Futurism and Spectralism. He is known as a theoretician of ‘Russian Avant-Garde,’ which referred to art from all nations within the Russian Empire at the beginning of the 20th century. He studied the works of the Italian Futurists and wrote essays on the nature and method of artistic expression. He cofounded the Ukrainian Agitprop Movement and created designs for it. He became a founding member of the Association of Revolutionary Masters of Ukraine in 1927, and in the same year participated in the All-Ukrainian Exhibition ‘Ten Years October,’ marking the 10th anniversary of the Bolshevik Revolution. He died in Kyiv.
